Subaru debuted the Forester in 1997 as one of the first crossover SUV’s and an entire new automotive market was born, car like styling with enough ground clearance to clear pretty much anything in its path. While that is all well and good, everyone at Air Lift Performance seems to have a phobia of wheel gap and vehicles that just seem to sit way too high. With it’s truck like stance and less than stellar handling capabilities, the Forester definitely does not strike you as the ultimate vehicle to have scraping pavement. So with that in mind and a nervous twitch the ALP engineers went to work on designing the best air suspension possible for the Forester.
Any old strut up front would simply not do to cure the Forester’s ride height issue. So we took our 30 level adjustable, monotube threaded body struts and topped it off with a smooth riding double bellow air spring for the ultimate in drop and ride comfort. To help you get the most out of your suspension we included adjustable camber plates made from T6061 aluminum and anodized in a rich red color to match the end caps of the air springs. All of this adds up to a 6.2′ drop from standard height in the front!
To drop the rear 5.9′ we used the same style threaded body, monotube strut was used in conjunction with a smooth ride progressive rate sleeve style air spring. To help with alignment and handling we have integrated an adjustable camber plate made of T6061 red anodized aluminum with high quality spherical bearings to mirror the front suspension. All of this coupled with 30 different levels of damping adjustment really allow you to fine tune your ride quality and handling performance.
Lower your Accord, improve your handling, and get control over your suspension! This is the most versatile choice for suspension on today’s market; go from the street to the show floor with the push of a button. These air-over shock kits are designed to give you maximum performance with our 9-way adjustable damping system—previously only found on high-end coilovers. This allows you to tune the ride and handling to your liking.
With the performance side covered, let’s talk about style and versatility. Adjust your ride height with the flip of a switch (something that coilovers will never do). Wheel gap never helped anyone win a car show or get you noticed! Tuck those rims up where they’re supposed to be— this kit will set you on the ground, let you clear speed bumps, and get in and out of driveways without scraping your ride. Not only that, but you’ll also get the remarkably smooth ride that air provides.
If you are reading this, you’re probably a fan of all-wheel-drive and high performance. Considering the reputation and heritage that accompany years of experience with the World Rally Championship, Subaru owners expect their cars to perform well on any surface, in any weather. This is a serious, high-performance machine that requires the best in suspension to keep it glued to terra firma.
Yes, there are plenty of choices out there for Subarus…but the problem is, you’ve seen all these other incredible cars—all slammed to the ground—and you are secretly longing for that look on your Subi. Plenty of people out there think it’s wrong to bag a Subaru because they think it will somehow degrade the sports-sedan-handling, or make it ride like a marshmallow. Maybe you are concerned by this prospect yourself, but still, that low-stance look has you daydreaming.
Well, believe it or not, you really can have the best of both worlds! Air Lift Performance has created the perfect suspension kit to tear up a racetrack, shred some back country roads, or stop people dead in their tracks at a show. As the leader in aftermarket, high-performance air suspension, we know what it takes to perfectly balance ride, handling, and stunning good looks. The members of the engineering team involved in kit design and development have over 35 years of road racing experience as drivers, engineers, and crew members. Performance is not only in our name—it’s in our blood.
So what does it take to have such a versatile suspension? It all starts with a strong foundation—in this case, that foundation is the struts. Air Lift uses 30-way adjustable, monotube struts—with a serious range of damping adjustment—that have been specially tuned to match the air springs. Monotube construction is the preferred choice, both in racing and for us, for its sensitivity to small inputs and its great ability to shed heat when pushed to the limit. The 30 clicks of adjustment aren’t just for fun, but serve to allow you, the user, to dial in your preferred handling, feel, or desired ride quality. The range goes from super-stiff to really soft, adjusting rebound and compression simultaneously. The struts weigh considerably less than the coil spring parts you remove, reducing unsprung weight—a benefit to both ride and handling.
When the Mazda 3 was released in 2004, it put an end to the need to drive a boring commuter car. The compact size and nimble handling have made this little road rocket a huge hit among modern day hot-rodders. With endless amounts of lowering coils and coilovers available for the Mazda 3, Air Lift Performance has come up with the best solution to slam your 3 without giving up ride quality or handling. With the simple push of a button and the twist of a damping knob, you can adjust your ride height and stiffness from luxury-smooth to racetrack-ready.
Up front, a double-bellow air spring is mated to a 30 level damping, adjustable, monotube strut, giving you the formula for excellent performance handling. The threaded body strut allows you to adjust the height of the lower mount, giving you almost endless ride height possibilities. Top all this off with adjustable camber plates—made out of T6061 and slathered in a sexy red hue—and you are ready to hit the show field, road course, and every road in between.
In the rear, a double-bellow air spring takes the place of a traditional coil spring, allowing you to choose the lowered height you crave. To help you go as low as possible, we toss aside the factory lower-control arms in favor of our ultra-custom, tubular lower arms. These arms are treated to a show-quality black powder coat finish, and even have provisions for mounting your sway bar. To complement the other suspension goodies, we replace the rear shocks with 30-level damping, adjustable, monotube units that help to fine tune ride quality and handling.
With the classic, American rear-wheel drive platform pretty much extinct, we applaud everyone over at Chrysler for keeping the LX platform alive! It’s hard to beat a full-size, rear-wheel drive car, especially when equipped with the classic Hemi V8…but, as good as the LX platform is, we think the stance still leaves a lot to be desired.
With that in mind, we sharpened our pencils and set out to design the lowest adjustable suspension possible with simple bolt-on installation. Low is certainly a cool statement, but “low” can be achieved in many different ways—and we decided to do it the RIGHT way. What is the “right” way, you ask? Well, not only did we engineer our kit to have a ground-hugging stance, but we designed it to enhance performance handling and improve ride quality. Try getting all that out of a set of lowering springs or coilovers!
Our front kit features a threaded body monotube shock with 30 levels of damping adjustment, topped off with a smooth-riding, double-bellow air spring. The struts look just as good as they perform, from the black chromed steel shock bodies to the bright red anodized air spring end caps, all attached to an anodized upper mount with a high-quality monoball bearing. Put this all together and you can now drop the front of your LX 4.88 inches from that unsightly OEM ride height.
For the rear, we tossed out the factory coil spring in favor of our double-bellow air spring allowing you to drop 6.69 inches from stock. To make sure your rear end isn’t bouncing down the road, we use a 30-level damping, monotube, threaded body shock to complement the front shock.
