When the first Volkswagens came to market, they were produced as a vehicle for the masses—simple, affordable, and economical to own. Fast-forward some 80-odd years and they have become highly sophisticated, technically advanced machines. As great as the new VW’s are, that does not stop us from wanting to make them even better! And by “better,” we mean “slammed on the ground.”
For starters, we added our smooth-riding, double-bellows air spring to a threaded body monotube strut. 30 levels of damping adjustment allow you go from race car stiff to a comfortable ride with the twist of a knob. Top all that off with a T6061 aluminum adjustable camber plate covered in a sexy red hue. All this equates to performance handling, killer ride quality and the ability to slam the front end 4.8” from stock.
The rear suspension was treated to a double-bellows air spring in the place of the factory coil spring, giving you a 5.8” drop from original stock height. We also replaced the factory OEM control arm with our industry-first, CNC laser-cut,robotically welded lower control arm to deliver maximum drop and cornering ability. To help keep things under control, we have added monotube shocks with 30 levels of damping adjustability to match the front—for the ultimate in handling and ride comfort!
With a nickname like Godzilla, you are probably not going to get by solely on your good looks. Whether you think the GT-R is drop-dead gorgeous, or you think it looks like a 27-year-old-catfish, there is no denying it: this car is a fire-breathing monster when it comes to performance. With a twin-turbo six-cylinder, bold styling, and more cool technology than the last space shuttle, Nissan put together an absolute beast of a super car with this GT-R.
Now, we understand that a mind-boggling number of hours and a ton of money went into the development of the GT-R, which we can surely appreciate. However, we see nothing wrong with feeding Godzilla steroids. Our Air Lift Performance engineers sat down to design our most advanced air suspension to date, knowing that they had to make an already-great machine even better.
In order to drop the front 4.17′ and the rear 4.5′, we sourced parts worthy of your superior car. We used our smooth-riding, double-bellows air springs mated to black chromed monotube threaded body shocks–with both the front and the rear topped off with red anodized upper mounts and high-quality monoball bearings. These shocks offer independent adjustment for compression and rebound for the ultimate in tunability. A remote reservoir is mounted to each shock, allowing them to stay cooler, which equates to less cavitation and fade under high-performance driving conditions.
It’s not all about fancy parts and a show-stopping stance, though. This suspension was designed on the racetrack with handling performance that leads the way in development. In recent back-to-back testing, our air suspension outperformed the stock suspension in R mode on the road course! Not only will the air springs give you a smooth, progressive spring rate under hard driving, but the 30 levels of damping adjustment really allow you to fine-tune the ride, and give you the handling you are looking for. Go from a smooth, comfortable ride to race-car-stiff handling with a twist of the knobs.
Lexus IS200 & IS300
Lexus IS200 & IS300 (1998 – 2005)
Originally developed to dominate the mid-size luxury performance market, the Lexus IS has become an extremely popular car to modify for the street and for the track. Since this version of the Lexus emphasized performance more than luxury, we set out to develop a suspension kit that not only was capable of giving you a slammed look, but also a suspension that could plant your face against the side glass as it whips around a sharp corner.
After miles of road and miles of track, Air Lift Performance has come up with what we think is the best all-around suspension set up for the IS. This kit will allow you to go low at a moment’s notice with the simple push of a button—without giving up the ride quality you expect out of your Lexus. Try that with coilovers or lowering springs!
Our direct, bolt-in replacement for your factory coils is a threaded body, monotube shock, which features a smooth-riding, double-bellow air spring, allowing you to drop the front 4.25 inches from stock ride height. The red anodized upper mount houses a high quality monoball bearing to ensure smooth and quiet operation throughout the entire range of motion. 30 levels of damping adjustment allow you to fine-tune your ride and handling from super-soft to race-car-stiff—-and everything in between—with the simple twist of a knob.
We followed the same formula as the front for the rear set-up, encompassing the same smooth-riding, double-bellow air spring atop a monotube shock. The rear also boasts the same 30 levels of damping as the front to make sure you can evenly tune your suspension—especially when the urge for some performance driving hits. Not only do the rear shocks perform as pristinely as they look, but they will also allow you to drop 5.5 inches from the original stock height!
Since its first release in 1982, the world’s automotive press and aficionados alike have been celebrating the classic BMW. Ever since then, the E30 has seen all kinds of modifications: everything from V8 swaps to full-on custom builds…this platform has pretty much seen it all. After all, it’s hard to beat a small, lightweight rear wheel drive car for the ultimate fun factor!
You know your Bimmer was born to succeed everywhere, from idling in the executive parking lot to shredding curves on back roads—but instead of shredding curves, you’re shedding tears over the factory stock height. The E30’s love of wheel gap makes all the wrong first impressions. Since we believe wheel gap is one of those things that you can get too much of, our ALP engineers took on the task of putting the E30 chassis way closer to the pavement than any BMW engineer would have ever thought possible.
You know your BMW corners the market in luxury performance…but how would you like to corner the turns on the racetrack just as well? Air Lift Performance has the very solution you need, with an adjustable performance air spring suspension kit—available now for your BMW E30 3-Series.
Before you think this kit is just about going low, you should know we test all of our kits on the track, with the goal of delivering the best most versatile way to lower your BMW without compromise. We realize there are several different ways to slam your E30 to get the look and performance you crave, but do you really want to give up ride quality or scrape everywhere you drive?
For the front kit, we mated a smooth-riding, double-bellows air spring to our 30-level damping adjustable, monotube, threaded body strut, giving you 5.1 inches of drop. The look is topped off with adjustable camber plates made of T6061 red anodized aluminum that utilize a high-quality spherical bearing. Since Bimmer engineers never thought their executive car would see this kind of drop, they didn’t leave the suspension very mod-friendly…so some fabrication work is required. Similar to most aftermarket suspension systems, this is a weld-in kit that requires high-quality welding capabilities. This kit asks that you weld the outside perimeter of the lower mount to the hub. Unless you are highly confident in your welding skills, we recommend turning the installation over to a professional.
The rear is a much more install-friendly design. We simply replace the factory coil spring with a double-bellows air spring, giving you a 5.6-inch drop. To keep the rear from bouncing down the road, we use 30-level damping adjustable, monotube, threaded body shocks. With black chromed shock bodies and bright red accents, these shocks look just as sharp as they function. And there’s no welding necessary for this kit—just check out the Air Lift Performance instruction manuals and have basic hand tools nearby to complete installation.
Subaru debuted the Forester in 1997 as one of the first crossover SUV’s and an entire new automotive market was born, car like styling with enough ground clearance to clear pretty much anything in its path. While that is all well and good, everyone at Air Lift Performance seems to have a phobia of wheel gap and vehicles that just seem to sit way too high. With it’s truck like stance and less than stellar handling capabilities, the Forester definitely does not strike you as the ultimate vehicle to have scraping pavement. So with that in mind and a nervous twitch the ALP engineers went to work on designing the best air suspension possible for the Forester.
Any old strut up front would simply not do to cure the Forester’s ride height issue. So we took our 30 level adjustable, monotube threaded body struts and topped it off with a smooth riding double bellow air spring for the ultimate in drop and ride comfort. To help you get the most out of your suspension we included adjustable camber plates made from T6061 aluminum and anodized in a rich red color to match the end caps of the air springs. All of this adds up to a 6.2′ drop from standard height in the front!
To drop the rear 5.9′ we used the same style threaded body, monotube strut was used in conjunction with a smooth ride progressive rate sleeve style air spring. To help with alignment and handling we have integrated an adjustable camber plate made of T6061 red anodized aluminum with high quality spherical bearings to mirror the front suspension. All of this coupled with 30 different levels of damping adjustment really allow you to fine tune your ride quality and handling performance.
